Ekó da Embaúba
A caterpillar that refuses to become a butterfly.

While Moeté dreams of flying, Ekó finds the idea absurd. Caterpillars, after all, were made to eat, sleep, and remain caterpillars. That's what she thinks. But when her friends begin to transform into cocoons, Ekó resists. She resists the new, the unknown, the inevitable... until life forces her to face change head-on.
Ekó da Embaúba is a hybrid book that straddles the line between comics and illustrated books, constructing a poetic narrative about the fear and acceptance of transformation. It combines traditional and digital techniques to create its own universe, where time becomes matter and nature, metaphor.
Beyond its symbolic message, the work also serves as an invitation to learn about and appreciate the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest, revealing elements of this ecosystem on every page. A story for all ages about leaving behind what no longer serves us, making room for the unexpected, and discovering that sometimes, flying is the only way.
